Reasons For Poems

A Poem by Nipplegrinder

I've awakened with the moon
in daylights grip
Tasted the soul of the
man who picked the beans of
my mug of joy
I've sought the darkness
and survived somehow
I've breathed the names of fallen
heroes and
never smelled what drove them
I've watched a child I named
never speak a word to me
I've seen sunrises
that have touched the earth
and sunsets that run from
the sky that birthed it
I've seen the light of a star
whose light is billions of years old
I've watched you sleep
in whirlwinds of horrid dreams
and admired your beauty
as the demons fell

Brilliant lines of barely-stating each unrelated scene in a way that sparks many ideas in the reader's mind. I love the overall message that the reasons for writing include so much of what's everywhere around us. I share the desire to encourage newer writers to consider many possibilities, instead of writing about the same lovelorn topics over & over. Your details really pop even tho it's all everyday observations! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A lot of your writing contains dark mystery, intrigue and ambiguity which is so nice because it leaves so much up to interpretation on the part of the reader.. you allow us to take part in the dialogue of your works... but this one is different... this one is a little more real and shows us some painful and beautiful points in your life that have inspired you... indeed, it is the full spectrum of the human experience.. our greatest joys, serene moments of awe spent admiring something of beauty as well as the deepest valleys of pain and loss... these are what purges from our souls to spill upon the page or screen, as it were..

I hope that you never lose inspiration, for yours is a truly gifted pen.

Sorry I missed your compliments. A belated thanks, PB.
I really enjoyed this poem, but, I think, on a subliminal level. The words really spoke to me, but, to be honest I am not really sure what the poem was about ...' admired your beauty, as the demons fell' ....?, but I loved it never the less.

You are welcome
This was special to me. Genuinely. Both sides of the coin, written in imagery that isn't all too typical. Poetry: the great cloud-clearer.

This was beautiful, brother.
