No Seasons in a Forest

No Seasons in a Forest

There are no seasons in a forest

For if the sky is sealed from view
By mighty trees that choke all light
The only evidence of change
Is when the wind suddenly goes silent
And the air stops biting your cheeks

When the pain is gone and the leaves have fallen
When the trees have lost the battle to the cold
Some might claim that winter has come
Though you may never experience any season
For like the leaves, you will also fall by the feet
Of the cold and of the reckless

Before your heart can comprehend the beauty of change
It would have already stopped

Therefore

There are no seasons in a forest

Very powerful and reflective write, simply one of the best poem I have read, you did an incredible job of portraying death of the soul, your expression left me with the chills!...

Reminds me of Murkwood, from the Hobbit... Not even the light reached the ground in that forest, and I feel as if the one you conjured here would be slightly more nefarious... Or perhaps colder... Powerful imagery set with a brilliant concept... Coldly penned...

This one is really really beautiful, O :-)
Beautiful imagery and your love for melancholic genre is very sublime here. Wonderful comparisons. There are no seasons in a forest- Beautiful line. The darkness and loneliness that exist in life due to loss or any other reasons is very well echoed with seasons and forest.
However this one if taken into its literal meaning, then also this write stands true depicting different shades of existence.
Very nicely written.

Living on many acres of farm land and forest, where my contractor brother-in-law uses a back hoe digger, I know the ground here freezes and we have a frost law for builders. Valentine You have some very nice lines in this. Valentine

Bravo! One would think you an arboriculturist from your tree observations. Also my leaves have taken flight, my limbs have withered and hang listless, my bark has grayed and in thinning in places but my roots are still deep and strong so I have yet another season in me :~) good depth to a well though out poem my friend, I love it Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

I'd say the concept of this poem is very clever! To compare the human soul with the dark forest was a great idea indeed. I loved it!

tho the logic is flawed this poem certainly brings home a fatalism and bleak outlook worthy of investigating ..and this is a flavor i would not experience except for reading (eternal optimist and season lover i am;) the tree in the avatar is incredible .. would make a fine tattoo i think! glad i saw this to read ..powerful dark read
