Impasse

Impasse

A Poem by Dream Weaver

So here we are face to face, staring imprudently

into our perpetual enigma. Neither one giving up

an inch of clarity to the other. Arms folded eyes

so cold separated thoughts about to snap us back

to reality.

It’s truly over, all the good times have become a

microcosm of a life once shared through mutual

happiness. Now dissolved like a bitter pill tart and

chalky. Weren’t we perfect in an imperfect society?

Weren’t we logical in an illogical world or were we

just fooling ourselves that we would last forever?

The passion once stronger then any polymer

slowly eroding the molecules that has held it

together for all these years becomes a mere

reflection of a bond slipping away. I loved you as

you loved me, sadly you hate me as I hate you.

We now stand at an impasse.

That is one of life's ugliest moments...so hard to let go. but we must. Otherwise life is toast, no topping.

Excellent depiction!

Such an emotional write here, I agree with Bubo has said.

Impasse is the roadblock WE put up to hinder progress. I so understand that now. It is sad but true that the love that was once so strong can transform into a hate that is just as sturdy. But it began with something small at some point that got way out of hand (in most cases)--poor communication, feeling neglected, not enough romance. If only people would stop to diagnose the symptom and work to treat it. But that takes unselfishness on both parties' parts and selfishness was probably how this point was reached. Both parties must learn to look for the other's satisfaction. When that is learned, love becomes unbreakable.
You capture that moment of stagnant stubbornness to a "T". An all too common reality. Beautifully sad, my friend.

I recognize this space you find yourself in. I've been there. My hopes are that things get better for you. Beautifully orchestrated poem.

first off, the paradox in the photo and the first lines..
i'm seeing the photo with two lovers looking in different directions
and i read "so here we are face to face"
... i'm intrigued already ^.^

and a chemical twist on love, most sublime

impasse , indeed !

Saddly, this goes on everyday...in a world not perfect, and too
hard to sometimes crack open.

So many couples end this way, with coldness and wondering how they loved in the first place.......you have a powerful story within the story of loss, hurt and ultimately the end of a relationship......... and I love love Ugly Kid Joe!

Weren’t we perfect in an imperfect society?
Weren’t we logical in an illogical world or were we
just fooling ourselves that we would last forever?

this is so many breakups tied in one epic poem. why cant we just live without each other the way we did before we devoted our lives to each other?

"I loved you as you loved me, sadly you hate me as I hate you."

way to bring th heavy sickening emotion to life. great job, hun..

never could pinpoint at what turn the love begins to bleed into ire~ amazing how once upon a time a couple will be fused in complete unity of us against the world only to begin to fray at the edges and develop the complete opposites of the emotions that brought them together in the first place~
I've been there~ it's a terribly painful place to be~
you've given poignant life to the hapenstance with your powerful poem~
