The Guy On The Road

The Guy On The Road

A Poem by Paul Bell

Nobody cries for yesterday

Not me, not you

Only the dead on the hill

Walk in the night

In this foolish world of lies

Where buildings mourn

And the world drowns

It was then

It was in that moment

I realised

You were maybe everything

I needed

To make my life complete

On this crazy journey we call life

Every road has an ending

People stop and touch you for a time

Sometimes you’re grateful

Sometimes not

In the light of the house

You may see me looking in

The guy on the road

Finally realising

You were maybe everything

I needed

The guy on the road

Wishing you happiness

On this crazy journey we call life.

Interesting stalker's perspective. Is that how they think? lol just joking
It's very nice and soft, leaving you with a bittersweet feeling

Depends who the stalker is. Could be the man of your dreams. I still think eddie's the man.

This was so soft and serious of you Paul.

I really dig it and can visualize it perfectly. The bit about sometimes we are grateful and sometimes we aren't is so true and fueled the heart of this

Hey, you watch yourself. Be sending you hugs soon.
This is truly beautiful, Paul. Haunting and evocative as well as an appealing mix of sad and wishful. Love it!

Excellent description of the people that move in and out of our lives.

Thanks Carol, glad you liked it.
I loved this poem. The first two stanzas set the mood, but then all of the sudden in this chaos comes a realization that this someone may have been everything you needed. The light house scene as well, I really enjoyed the whole piece. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Damien, glad you liked it.
That doesn't need to be so
Some crazy guy comes in
And makes it a reality
Nothing is impossible
