Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by penguin

I do not want to feel this way, my dear
Truly, I don't
I am sorry I have done what I have done
But it is done
Time can not heal this wound

Do you feel this way, my dear?
Or is it only I who is in pain?
I apologize for asking
But I already have
I need to know the answer

I can not seem to stop, my dear
Honestly, I can't
I guess you have that power over me
Until I cease to feel breath on my lungs
I have waited a long time for this

Love holds me a hostage, my dear!
For I can not seem to break the chain
This cage is weakening me
To the point that I turn to dust
No one can stop it

What is that you are holding, my dear?
The reason I am trapped
The key!
But you won't give me release

Because you trapped me.

such a emotional, touching, sad write.
nicely presented.

I was very much into this gushing confession of being addicted to love . . . so many good & unexpected ways to show the narrator's wavering obsession: "I apologize for asking, but I already have, I need to know the answer." For the most part, the narrator seems to own his/her problem of being trapped. But at the end, this seems to change into an accusatory statement -- the beloved must be at fault for the narrator being trapped. I'm not crazy about that ending, even tho it's true to life & happens often. One person blaming the other for something only the one person can really control & decide upon. Very thought-provoking & original depiction of over-the-top infatuation.

lua
a solid metaphor depicting the lack of control love can bring, a total infatuation towards someone
