Breadcrumbing

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee

Breadcrumbing

Insincerity

Disguised as friendly banter

Never paid for lunch

The act of sending out flirtatious, but non-committal text messages (ie "breadcrumbs") in order to lure a sexual partner without expending much effort,” equates to leading someone on.

Hmmmmm- so true- but then again I don’t think the type of meal that it could afford or offer would be worth it- quite unappetising I should think- sad that some people are so desperate to be wanted and wanting attention that they allow anything into their lives- leading to heartache and confusion- what ever happened to self respect and honesty??? Great write and so affective 🌹

I'd never heard this term before! This is fantastic and again you've (to me) touched on aspects of the duplicitous natures of modern society by focusing on a specific 'thing' that is actually indicative of wider issues. Thanks

Ha! A perfect senryu that slices to the core...”breadcrumbing” a new social designation for my vocabulary... you let us know in no uncertain terms that it is not worth the yeast it was made with. Eloquent, concise, pow!:))

Gee
Jesus there's an awful amount of fannying around when it comes to dating and trying to get laid. Guess that's why tinder and the like were started.

Maybe if people focussed on writing instead of whatevering .. .. Guess if you stand in the queue at the supermarket check-out, these things will happen! Perhaps best go to that little corner shop around the corner - less choice but better quality?!

Or green ones!
i would gladly pay for lunch every time if sincerity were the main course.

This is so true... It happens from all people, women, men, teens it shows no remorse when someone is after someone else... Thank you for shedding light on this topic with this write..

Without the texting, we used to call it 'coming on'. By whatever means the desired outcome was the same.
Bread crumbing seems somehow more innocent.
Great idea, Phil
