Imagined Infidelity

Imagined Infidelity

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Mental adultery is to picture situations in the mind; to think adultery in the mind with a person to the point that if the opportunity were presented you would commit the physical act.

"

Imagined Infidelity

A conscious desire

To gratify lustful thoughts

Within the psyche

What’s so sabotaging about this form of adultery is the fact that people don’t take it as seriously because no physical act has taken place.

Virtual lustful interactions can often be a million times more intense & memorable than the everyday physical counterpart. I've been in this situation & even when there is NO LUST being swapped, just the intensity of wanting to hear from that other person so much, so often . . . it's like a huge horrible contrast to the everyday take-him/her-for granted way that many longtime couples interact. The spurned spouse feels neglected just due to the sheer excitement the other texting partner incites . . . it doesn't have to get anywhere near sex for this to be a painful betrayal. You state all this in a concise & compelling way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thought provoking write. The apple looks tempting, but it could still give you a belly ache.
