God Knew Lonely

God Knew Lonely

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Have you ever been lonely?

Feeling so alone

That you can’t see

What life holds?

A sad heart

Filled with sorrow.

A tunnel so dark,

You can’t see tomorrow.

God in His greatness,

Created the world and everything therein.

His heart was to bless…

Even when filled with sin.

And because of sin, communion He missed,

For it had hidden hearts from His grace and peace.

Rejected by the very people He cherished…

God knew lonely.

Sending Jesus, He gave His only Son,

Removing Him from the Throne

So victory could be won…

To bring us Home.

With His Son on the cross

Bearing the sins of many,

Suffering intimate loss…

God knew lonely.

To have your son on the cross. Would be a pain never forgotten. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome.
You are absolutely right. So God can really emphatize, sympathize and relate to us in many ways and in any given situation because He as well experienced and went through everything. I tried to remember a time or a moment in Jesus life here on earth where He ever felt that way. I know one passage that He brought two of His closest disciples with Him when He went to pray before His betrayal. Why He took two of His disciple ? Some commentaries says that He felt lonely but not sad...there's a nuance there when He asked two of His disciples to accompany Him while He prays.

And the last passage is the time when He hanged on the cross and cried these words " My God My God why have you forsaken Me " . I have pondered these words uttered by our Lord. Did He cried these words because He was in pain ? Crucifixion is really derived from the word excrucia which means severe or excruciating pain. I believe there's strong evidence that His pain and crying was more of spiritual pain than physical pain. Our Lord Jesus is not a whimp. But He felt so alone when His Father turned His back on Him and that sweet perpetual closeness He always enjoyed and shared with His Father was severed when He took the sins of the world. Your sin and mine cost Him His closeness with His Father. It cost Him the most painful loneliness ever felt by a man - that is to be forsaken by God. He was forsaken, condemned so you and I could be accepted and redeemed.

Melinda you have penned a hope to anyone who ever felt the sting of loneliness and the stench of indifference. We are reminded by your thoughts in your writing that our Lord Jesus felt it too and He can truly relate to anyone when we call His name and ask His help.

Awesome work my friend! Seems like people are getting lost in the "why God sacrificed his son" and I've seen some rude comments and not so we aren't lonely. In spirit He is always there with us... always a shoulder to cry on, always a friend to listen and always there for us. You portrayed that beautifully in this poem :) Good work

Jesus Christ was crucified to restore us where we belong. I am glad you are so faithful and this faith never make you lonely.

your welcome.
He sent His only Son, knowing what He was asking of Him. More than just lonely, I would think He felt heartbreak seeing how He was treated on the earth He had created. Deep write. Valentine

Jesus didn't die so that we wouldn't be lonely,
he died for our sins. so that we might not enter into condemnation
