Aftermath of a breakup

I whispered your name

I needed you with me

You came

In sadness, sorrow, and something else

Was it regret?

 

"Leave me alone, and move on.  We're through."

Those words were forbidden

You had spoken them once before

And yet, that didn't make it easier to hear them

 

You,

You and your emotions

Tore through what was left of me

You pulled out my heart

And stabbed it

Over and over with those words

"We're over"

 

You left it there

On the ground

Bleeding, beating

Bloodied, empty

Like I am right now,

A hollow shell

"Don't say you love me.  It's over."

 

Those words reverberate inside my mind

Pulling up emotions

That were locked away

"We're through."

 

Do you see the pain you cause?

You say that it's supposed to help me get over you

If you went away, and never saw me again

But, dear, that's not the way the heart works

"We're done, leave me alone"

We're human

We're meant to love, and be loved

And yet,

Here is my heart

Beaten, torn, broken, empty, shattered

On a heart...

"I'm sorry it had to be this way"

Were you saying sorry to make me feel better?

Wow so many emotions...its hard to have a broken heart but time will heal it even if it doesnt seem like it.
