Life of Lies

Life of Lies

A Poem by Kristen
"

Probably one of my best pieces, enjoy!

"

She stares in the mirror,

Trying to distinguish if anything has become clearer.

But nothing on the outside will show her feelings;

She has had enough dealings

With imbecilic b******s.

Another day passes by,

Nothing has changed, everything is still a lie.

"When will this end?" she distraughtly cries

To the world; her eyes

Filled with tears.

She tries to show the truth,

In an attempt to change a past that has haunted her from youth.

But the ignorant people frown,

And she feels like she may drown

In sorrow as she runs home.

Finally, she can take it no longer,

She cannot become any stronger.

With one final breath,

She awaits her death,

And greets it with open arms.

Her parents find her on the floor,

With no idea she is free from the lies she bore.

There was one simple note,

A small slit in her throat,

And tears staining her now-cold skin.

It was the final day,

It dawned frozen and gray.

Her parents bade farewell to her grave,

Wondering if they could have somehow saved

Her life of lies.

Now her existance is hardly known,

Everyone only recalls a different side of her being shown.

But that would make her satisfied,

To know that she died

With some sort of a purpose, not living a lie.

It's truly remarkable how we all go through so many painful experiences, so many dark times, and so much suffering yet some of are able persevere in our own ways... like channeling that negative energy and demonic spirit and being able to created such beautiful art... in this case, through poetry. This piece was written exceptionally well and absolutely beautifully expressed.

This hits home on so many levels, and the ending is so painful to read, but thankfully this was expressed into a creative art... or at least that's what I truly hope, and not that this was based on a someone you had known and might be relating to. You poured your heart out in this piece and it jumps right off the screen. It's eerie just how accurate that it describes the pain, but I am so thankful you were able to write this and share this for others to read. This is phenomenal piece, thank you for sharing something so deep and so personal.

this is was so sad, but i can totally relate to it... Lots of people live big lies, and hide their faces from the world with a mask. this would be complicated for some people to understand, but it has a good message behind it. I can tell how deeply connected you are to this poem, brava!
