Acquainted With Reality

Acquainted With Reality

A Poem by Kristen
"

A response poem to 'Acquainted With the Night' by Robert Frost, which I had to write for a project for my English class.

"

I have been one acquainted with reality.

I have walked away from the storm - and back into the storm.

I have outrun the harshest brutality.

I have deserted the known norm.

I have seen my family's unhidden concern

And tried to shy from my new form.

I have observed the lonely and felt the burn

When I see into what I have become,

And feel the longing to return.

But this is no reason to be glum,

For there is always a way to turn

One's life away from the slum,

Though one must have the proper mentality.

I have been one acquainted with reality.

Great job! I like your version of Frost's poem!
I remember doing this in 8th grade, except mine was called "Aquainted with the Fall"!
Anyways, excellent write!
Good luck in the contest!
