I Run Away

I Run Away

A Poem by Rain
"

Tis a bit bout me

"
I run away
now and then
like a child
I've always been
I ran away when I was ten
when I heard her wish
I'd never been

I run away...I run away
I run away

I leave behind all the woe
never think just where I'll go
Even as a man I've found
I will leave without a sound
if I feel misunderstood
made to feel I'm no good

I run away...I run away
I run away

It is no-one's fault but mine
I run away, sometimes to find
I walk the sands
near the sea
and search the waves
for why I'm me
 I run away
when I'm afraid
I'll find the answer
of what I'm made

I run away...I run away
I run away

There comes a time
each ship must shore
the anchor dropped
to sail no more
What will I do...or say...or be
when there's no way
to run from me

I will run away...run away
I will run away

I know how you feel Rain. We all want to run away now and then. I think that's where pride and stubborness can be a good thing. That's what they want, just want you to go away, submit to their pressures and attempts to break you. That's when you dont let them win, but stand up and say do your worse. I am not affraid.

I'm so glad to see you are back, and hopefully to stay. You are always missed my friend. :)

All my love dear friend

even though you wrote this a few years back I am sure you are running away. And to tell you the truth I think we all are in our own way. I wish I had read this when you first wrote it, because I could have used something like this to put my life in perspective.

Very BEAUTIFUL!! I liked this soo much you dont even know. I think we could all relate to this poem at some points in our lives. It also had a very beatnikish feel to it. If thats a word haha but you know what i mean. Great job!

Believe most of us have the urge to make ourselves scarce from time to time, specially when hurt.

But as you say, and my favorite lines are towards the end,

There comes a time
each ship must shore,
the anchor dropped
to sail no more

What will I do...or say...or be
when there's no way
to run from me.

And really most of the time, isn't ourselves we most want to change or get away from? Nice job on this.

Your messages be it in rhyme or prose can always make the heart of your reader see themselves. I don't physically run away but just step back a pace or two to try to put things in perspective, slap myself around a bit and let it all pass. Where I am today I would love to be able to physically run away. LOL Just for awhile. I think we tend in life to loose ourselves caring so deeply for others around us and yet if we did not care, we would not be who we are. LOL Did that make any sense at all? Wonderfully touching as always my friend.

Hugs,
Lesa

This is avant-garde for the simple fact that everyne can identify with and be helped by this poem, no matter age, race, creed etc.
The structure and rhythm was crazy!

I enjoyed reading.

Running from yourself, unfortunatly we cann't hide from ourselves, we also have to face what we've done in the dark and the light. We run when we are misunderstood and feel neglected and alone. Are these writers' emotions???

I like this piece, Rain, it shows how we have learned behaviors as a child and continue into adulthood. Very well written. Great job.

This is simple but so much vivid and powerful! I got that great sense of mixed emotions from it...From the heart of both a child in the first section and then from the heart of a matured person in the last section.
The format and repetition is giving a very lyrical effect to it and I guess it could be a very good song too, because I do write song lyrics and I'm sure it would be a great soft rock song!

According to me, sometimes running away and surrendering from a situation is the best way to solve it, when its solution seems so far away from you and I got that same feel while the second section, specially from these lines - 'It is no-one's fault but mine...I run away, sometimes to find"

And gradually when I came up till the end I got an entire different feel from it, and sensed that the same child who ran away when he was ten is no longer a child now...That feel of metamorphism has been described very well with it!
"There comes a time
each ship must shore
the anchor dropped
to sail no more" - Here I got that feel of stubbornness and passion to face any kind of hardship!

"What will I do...or say...or be
when there's no way
to run from me" - I guess this only will make a better ending than the original one...But that is just a personal opinion and I highly respect your thoughts and emotions behind this poem..

So, overall...I must say! This is an amazing and such a great piece of writing....Awesome!
