HINTING AT THE DARKNESS

HINTING AT THE DARKNESS

A Poem by SHEEMA HUQ
"

Prose Poetry

"

Measuring up to the outdoors; harsh, damp,

               with the vagaries of  cold and an old oil lamp;

                          Hinting at the darkness,

                            at what lays beneath

Tussling branches,  waver and jerk, ahead of

tumbling and twisting bedrocks. to which the

trees,  cling to their expansive appeal, as they

start to reveal,  their vociferous selves, in

their early autumn wealth; yellows and oranges,

converge, as rustics colours constantly emerge.

                          Hinting at the darkness,

                            at what lays beneath

The scene becomes obscured, by wildflowers,

              variously abandoned, mushrooms stand immodestly,

sulking berries look lost, some are prominent,

others seems to hide, if so, who from ?

                      - a charmless, anonymous boss?

Such an intriguing write again, Sheema. I have two interpretations in here: First, literally speaking about nature and the change of season, you described a picture of a forest. Second, metaphorically speaking about a scene in a workplace...new boss, new regulations, etc...like changing of season.

Thanks for this thought-provoking piece.

Mysterious and intriguing imagery that pulled me between the lines. "early autumn wealth"....I liked the personification of the trees in this line. Very different write of nature. Good one. Lydi**

Thanks so much Lydia!
Well wrtten. Yes it sometimes seems that there is a charmless, anonymous boss overseeing things. But thank goodness Nature is resllient. Love the word pictures you create in your description.

I have to admit that this has lost me....I did enjoy reading it and the phasing was nothing if not interesting, but I have no idea what it is all about

I think that I was keen to create a sense of intrigue, you know, to play on the mystery and suspens.. read more
I feel this poem is about the power of darkness ( or bosses ) of darkness that they wield over their workers who are vulnerable like the fallen leaves and who tumble and twist with their whims. Some kind of sexual advances perhaps which borders on sexual harrasements...Bravo on an interesting poem...The imagery is splendid too...:)...........
