My Heart is Good

My Heart is Good

A Poem by Samith Pich
"

Sometimes you need a reminder that you're OK

"

my heart is good

like the promises of gifts

running down the street

after you    laughing

the milk spilt

the rain curdled

an empty nest    under

our pillow as we

dreamt of children

my heart is good

like a long continuous drawing

a stairway of blossoms

birdsong in your fingers

rosehip on your mouth

on my mouth

            genuine fruit

blooming with light

my heart is good

because writing says so

like the outlines of clouds

or trees made by children

like waves at your feet

the roar of the surf

spell of horizon

on which the poem spins

a Trojan horse for an

open heart, the clinging

lotus shakes

         the trembling dew

A poem with the line 'my heart is good' inspired this poem. I apologise that I don't have the details of who wrote the poem. This is the second of three poems I wrote after a 2 yr hiatus from writing...

I try to keep an eye on what Emily is reading, as she has an uncany knack for locating true gems and nuggets rife with gentle wisdom. This delightful little piece is no exception!
