Firefly

Firefly

A Poem by Sazaku
"

"
We've been running scared
through tangled snares
afraid to bear the rusty cross

the thoughts of loss
coat hearts in frost
til we fear the icy air

we breath in heaves
that scatter the leaves
from the trees that give us shelter

no matter the weather
flocks of a feather
seek skies ever fairer
and a hope to find the dawn

rise on the horizon
see again the day begun
from their roost among the clouds

as our heads are bowed
we drape this shroud
over the life we can't live without

and yet within the doubt
that we'll survive this drought
is a light that dares to linger

a firefly upon my outstretched finger
illuminating all I once found meager
in the pencil-tip shade of melancholy

it's there within that scenery
the picture came into clarity
and I thought with reforged sincerity
there's a possibility I might again be me.

great poem i love when rhyme is done well and does not come across as cheesy or trying to hard. very nice flow with concise and meaningful lines. that is difficult to execute successfully so great job 🖒
