This Goodbye

This Goodbye

A Poem by Andromeda
"

wow...i surprise myself w/ sad poems. hahah.

"

Holding you tight in my arms,

With my head on your shoulder and

Your head on my heart,

I pretend that

We never will part.

We promise we’ll see each other again,

When the miles that are between us draw thin—

Some hated years from now,

Perhaps,

But surely we’ll see each other again.

Surely we’ll see each other again.

As your tears stain through my shirt,

As they shiver on my skin,

As comprehension begins to soak in,

My heart swells with hurt.

Our tears will fade with time and

We cannot pretend to know how the years will rhyme.

But surely we’ll see each other again—

Surely

This goodbye

Is a lie.

As your arms begin to loosen

And my tears fall ever faster,

I memorize your face.

I memorize your face

To last me through my life,

And sorrow slashes me like a knife.

We both know

Our hopes they lie,

And all

Our plans will die—

That this...

This

Is our last goodbye.
