Leave MeA Poem by Soma-koPoem.Tell me, do you see the wine bottle near the box of flowers? No, not that one, the one without a label, near the box of wilting yellow carnations. Yes, that one, that’s the one I keep the petals of redbuds in. Now, if you’d be so kind, as to break the bottle, smash it, and place the edges on my chest. Right on top my heart. No my dear, not your left, your right, my left, can’t you hear it beat? Yes my dear, right there, now just slowly grind it in, just twist, slowly, ahh, right there, just twist. Stop. Tell me, can you feel the beats of my life, the way it pounds on the glass walls. Look into my weary eyes. Tell me, how is it that my soul pounds so defiantly, when my body has been worn this much. Tell me, what makes my nature revolt against my desires to die. Why can’t I just leave. Tell me, is the melody of my heart’s cries beautiful? Listen closely. Now Stop and bring your lips closer. Let me feed you. Bring your lips to the mouth of the bottle, and drink me in. Take me as I am. Take what makes me, me, and devour all that I am. Look into my eyes, listen to my heart as it beats each mouthful of me, into you, and tell me, why you won’t kill me. Tell me, why you lock me up, chained by threads of responsibilities. Stop feeding on me. Stop reminding me of you. Take the mirror with you, I can’t break it. Take, the box of carnations, and leave me be. Just, let me breathe. Please, just Go. © 2016 Soma-koAuthor's Note
