The Cry Of The Many

The Cry Of The Many

A Poem by Scarlet Letter
"

For everyone who has felt this pain

"
So alone in our misery
We never let anyone in.
Abandoned by hope,
So full of hatred,
We isolated individuals.
Dead men walking,
Crying out
With a voice hoarse of anguish.
No one can hear,
No one cares....
Laying in a ditch,
Or a gutter, sewer, drain
No one stops to see us.
Trash flies carelessly out the window
To rest on our faces.
Going to the gym,
Or church, school, work,
Might as well be in the trench
As much as they care.
No we are alone,
Hidden behind ourselves,
Never to let anyone see
The vulnerable fragility inside,
Or the fact that we die a little more
Every day.

The sad thing is everyone feels this pain but feels it alone... if people understood that we could feel it together and come through... congrats on placing in the poetic souls competition by the way.

This is beautiful. It feels like you've taken my feelings and written them down. Lovely and heart wrenching.

Quite sad, but very true for many people. Clearly, the writer is expressing her feelings relating to the emotional state of loneliness. I would like to add, that it is only an issue if we make it one. Also, why is the word "issue" used to much these days? Part of the gradual and insidious "dumbing down" of true culture, or simply a convenient label to place over alll human troubles? Either way, it's a poignant poem which makes the reader think, a little! Interestingly, it is no mere stereotypical myth - that people with an artistic sentiment experience periods of loneliness or emotional turbulence. The metaphors in this piece are all clear enough, and require no further clarification (as far as I can see). Thankyou kindly, for adding yet another poem to my writing group - "Twilight's Disciples"! Keep writing!
