Underwater

Underwater

A Poem by Stefano Ianiro

All I wanted to do was take you by the hand

Tell you everything that faded like sand

When you were a beauty queen in the ocean

I floated for miles in slow motion

Analyzing the abandoned streams

That called to me like helpless screams

I was destined to be pulled below

By the mysteriously attractive glow

From what appeared to be gold

Was merely your beautiful soul

Swimming calmly over plants and sharks

Sending cold waves to the inside of my heart

You don’t understand what you’ve done to me

Locked my heart, setting my feelings free

Roaming everglades, towns and the Arctic

Thinking of love I admit I have lost it

Somewhere between you and the future

My heart will begin to lose its fragile structure

Releasing my soul, As I tried to catch her

I will meet you once again, underwater
