I Remember

I Remember

A Poem by SummerSnow

I remember

The first time I saw you

Laughing, carefree

You tucked a wild sprig of brown hair behind your ear

Watching as the door shut behind you

I couldn't wait to see you again

I remember

The last time I saw you

Peaceful, carefree

I tucked a wild sprig of gray hair behind your ear

Watching as the casket shut over you

I can't wait to see you again

Thank you so much for submitting this into my contest, and congratulations! Such a beautiful poem, and so very well written. It amazes me that in two simple verses, you were able to accurately bring to life the pain and heartbreak of losing someone close to you. Again, thank you so much!

A simple structured poem - very, powerful, very poignant.
