My English Teacher

My English Teacher

A Poem by Swetha
"

Dedicated to all my english teachers

"

Our trudge through phrases and idioms

Is made far easier by you

Proverbs, lessons, and poems

Never seemed to alive and true

Words that once haunted us

Now breathe life into our tired eyes

Verses which once kicked up a fuss

Now show the beauty in their lines

We thank you in every single way

For your selfless dedication

Whatever we are today

We owe to your devotion

Happy Teachers' Day.

Author's Note

Swetha
Again, a poem written on behalf of my class for my English teacher, for Teachers' Day. I must say, this didn't turn out as well as I hoped--not nearly as well as the poem on my math teacher, but I feel it's definately worth posting.

Ha ha very cute author's note. Perhaps your English teacher's poem didn't fly quite as high due to their sorrow at not having had the lessons sink it as well as they would have liked.
(4th line should really read "never seemed too alive and true"
Still, it's a good honest effort, and I hope she/he gave you a decent grade.
