A Girl Named Chelsey

A Girl Named Chelsey

A Poem by Mike L. Smyth

Her eyes sparkled in the sunlight

Dark, black hair rising and falling with the wind

Her smile brightens every dark room

The beauty of her existence grabs my heart

Squeezing so hard, but so soft

We have never met, but I love her

Every tear she sheds, I feel miles away

Stabbing me with intense strength

Distance separates and stops my undying love

As if to play Devil's advocate

Sneering at me with horrible delight

Every step I take to be closer

Is another step failed

My cycle of emotions rage inside

Willpower driving me to succeed

Waiting for the slightest touch

If only I could hold her in my arms

Call her my own, never let go

Shall fate bring us closer

Or will I ever gaze upon her again?
