Melancholy Bliss

Melancholy Bliss

A Poem by Tania Leigh

The ticking of the clock is deafening,

drowning screams from deep inside;

screams that only I can hear.

Bad thoughts chase away the good;

cruel confirmation of all I fear.

The sunshine in my life recedes,

replaced by darkest shadows.

Locked in the prison of my mind,

no colors, doors, or windows,

I lay, emotionally paralyzed

waiting for pills to take effect.

Feeling numb, unable to cry,

unable to care for all I neglect.

I am resigned, to it, my fate,

and although I did not ask for this

I smile inside and welcome in

the melancholy bliss.

tania, now this definitely describes a completely
subjugated state of being, the opening sets this
piece perfectly...

The ticking of the clock is deafening
Drowning screams from deep inside "

you have the ability to write extreme, taking
it to the next level, what everybody seeks,
every sentence is a feeling that relates to the
vision with key decisiveness, which in turn
developes the character analysis, the meaning,
with powerful, riveting effect, like looking at
a 3-d image, portrait surrender, take care, mike

Such a sad poem but very beautifully written. It really gives off a sadness that only the writer themselves can express which you do really well.

You really know how to paint a picture--you are like the Van Gogh of poetry, Tania! (Or maybe I should say Rembrandt?) This is such a great depiction of depression, line for line. I was born too happy so I have my own problems. lol. You really should get this poem into "Psychology Today," or another popular magazine. You are gifted.

Melancholy bliss....this is fantastically pointed. Brings to mind Pink Floyd's "comfortably numb." Tania, you are multi-faceted and I look forward to reading all of your stuff. Thanks!

That's the best description of clinical depression I have ever read. May I ask, how do you know about this so well as to write about it so vividly?

Nice look into depression. The poem describes alot of feelings and emotions that at least I have felt, though unfortunately I am positive that there are many, many more. A nice and powerful read. I enjoyed it.

Oh no......what a really powerful piece of work. I don't know why but I did not realise it was going to turn out the way it did. A good Write again Tania.....the changes of style in your poetry is brilliant. Keep writing :)
