Goodnight, Mother

Goodnight, Mother

A Poem by Lydia
"

This is not about me!

"

A picture of you hangs above my bed

It's the last thing I see every night

You're smile lingers over my slumbering head

And is the first thing in the morning that comes into sight

You're picture means the world to me

If only you could really be here

I could show you how well I'm doing with my poetry

You would hug me and say, "It's lovely, my dear."

You're beautiful picture is the last thing I have

Of a mother whose love was so easily shown

To her daughter that misses her and is extremely sad

That her mother's chance of life was blown

She will forever live on in my heart

I will never forget her no matter what

Of my life she will always be a part

Out if it she cannot be cut

So, as I lay my head down to go to sleep

It still doesn't feel quite right

In my mind memories of you begin to creep

To your picture I whisper, "I love you, mother, goodnight."

This is great....really enjoyed this. It aches to know that there are people who feel this way....

A great almost "night prayer like" poem. The use of the picture on the wall was cleverly done. A moment frozen in time of a person lost in time. I like the flow of this piece as well. Grief grows and changes as acceptance slowly comes.

Great piece.

I lost my mom at 14. Looking at her picture was unbearable. But now this strikes very true. Great job!

I love this and the emotion and empathy you seemed to put in the poem to people who don't really have that close of a relationship with their mothers. It really is outstanding and amazing. Double thumbs up Lydia! :)

You expressed your feelings to your mother very well.
I never been so close and emotional to my mother, we're just like a dog and a cat, we're rarely together :PP xD..
Your mum and you are inseparable and i can see that you will always be.
The ending is OUTSTANDING! You're very talented for your age, i'll be reading more! 100 for this!
Thanks for sharing...Keep it up :D
