ThreeA Poem by ThreadsFood for thoughtPride, Awe and Humility Each alike with their counterparts Who is one to say when it is right? to boast, to flourish in pride What man can achieve A Triumph! Parades through the streets Fanfares in the avenues Oh the extravaganza! The Arrogance of man Memento
mori When does awe become envy? There is a fine line A shadow of a difference Hewn into the cuts of that jeweler's gem The ability to marvel at the world,
without becoming jaded. Beauty A statue in a plaza In Hispania it cheers A man who did so much more With much fewer years Oh the avarice! The spark in the eye Memento
mori Born from humility, a virtue for another age Oft is it mistake for submission Reticence A lack of assertion To wear a crown without grace The naivety Lessons to be learned Treachery to be had Oh the betrayal! A loss most brutal Memento mori They shape the stone Create the sculpture A thing of beauty A thing of art Yet they can crack the core Shatter the foundation A contemptuous expression A pretentious look Alike with their counterparts Interlinked, Intertwined, Pride, Awe, and Humility © 2017 ThreadsAuthor's Note
