I’m standing here watching you walk away,
My heart is breaking as I see the footprints increasing,
The gap between us widens, the feelings cold
Please look back at least once, even if its just a glance.

I knew this would happen one day,
I knew you would leave me, for her
She has won your heart not me,
I admit my defeat.

Go to her now,
She’s waiting for you,
Don’t worry about me it’ll just make it harder,
Harder for me to get over you,
Oh please stop smiling at me,
You’ll make my heart beat ever so fast,

You’ve left an imprint in my heart.
There it will stay till I can learn how to love yet again,
I know I’ll love again, but not so soon,
As you see pain is what has to come before I love again.

You gave back the key to my heart,
The key I trusted you with,
In the end you gave it back,
Knowing you shouldn’t be trusted with it,
I thank you for your honesty.

Now here I am trying to get over the pain,
My heart turned to stone,
But I know that we were never meant to be,
I’m sorry for keeping you for that long,
Knowing full well that you love her,

All I ask for now is your forgiveness,
I am stronger then you think though,
I can deal with this,
Now stop spending your time worrying about me,
Go to your girlfriend,
Show her how much you love her.

Now I take my leave,
I’ll take a bow and leave the stage,
There for you to be with her,
Live this life as a play,
There is such thing as a happy ending,
The happy ending just doesn’t include me in it.
