Winter Willow

Winter Willow

A Poem by Westfire99
"

This is a brief poem I wrote about overcoming adversity and looking forward with optimism.

"

Within the bounds of winter's grasp
A frozen willow bends
Tolerating icy boughs
Of which she can't defend.

Branches reaching to the ground
Are anchored deep in snow
Withstanding life's unkind torment
Of weather harsh and cold.

Another season comes to pass
She waits majestically
For warmer clime and sunny days
To set her branches free.

Birds appear as spring unfolds
Rejoicing winter's end
Empty cold and darkness gone
Her leaves are green again.

You've got some talent. Descriptive and good word economy. Well done.

Beautiful picture by the way.

There's nothing like a crisp, refreshing ballad for this summer time season. This was well crafted and beautifully written. I almost could close my eyes and envision such a place. There's something poetic about the seasons and winter is one of my favorites to admire. The message here screamed one of hope. It began with the defenseless willow buried under the pressures of winter's weight. However, the story lightens gradually and its as if the willow is reminded that though weather may not be as pleasant, its memories of the sweet spring times we should keep with us, always. Perseverance is key midst our plight. Great read.
