Gin

Gin

A Poem by Amy Whetzell
"

Here's my interpretation of life

"

My life at times is s**t
And at others it is priceless
No two lives are the same
No two people are alike
Sometimes I take comfort in that
And sometimes I wish to be someone else

Life is not like poker
Whereas you see your cards
And discard those which you do not want
No, life is a game of gin
No trading cards allowed
You must play the hand you're dealt

But what if all your cards
Have a plan of their own
How do you play
When your own life is your opponent
And your very existence
Has become not your own

My life seems not my own
The cards in my hand
Throw more than fair share my way
But I'm still here!
Still playing the game called Life
I'm only human after all
