The Spirit

The Spirit

A Poem by Amanda
"

written for a dear friend that just lost their father...

"

The Spirit

By the grace of God

And touched by an angel,

I send my spirit to you

In your time of great adversity,

Of overwhelming emotional distress

I am there for you

Just think of me

And I will be your touchstone

Wrapping you in an unconditional love

As warm as a summer’s day,

Take my hand and hold on tightly

I will be your shelter from the storm

Soothing the aching in your heart

Comforting your wounded soul

Vanquishing the great pain you feel

Diminishing the deep sorrow

Not only for this moment in time,

But for always…

I'm sorry your friend is dealing with the loss of his/her father, but the friendship the two of you share will carry her/him through the storm. As depressing as it sounds, we're all going to die some day; in fact, we die a little more each day. Nothing in this life is permanent, yet we still act as though it is, going through the motions, believing in echoes....

I'm reading this as though the friendship is a long distance one because you say your spirit is with your friend. I bet you wish you could be there physically to offer a shoulder or a hug or simply wiping away a tear.....

The ache will eventually transform into acceptance when your friend discovers that this moment is all we have.

Lovely verse, Amanda. Your reader feels the sincerity....

After being away a long time, it was a treat to log back in and see your account still active. This was a brilliant piece of writing. The compassion and hope in these words sings to me and serves as a reminder that I am not comfortless. Bravo

That was such an heartfelt piece of writing. I know how does it feels to face the loss of a loved one like this. Its not just difficult, it is actually unbearable...But your friend has to carry on...Because, the virtue of true love is not how we hold on to it..But how we let it go and move on.
Your poem conveyed the same idea and that too with such a deep beauty. His/Her father will always be there for him/her. Just like it has been written in your poem-
"Just think of me
And I will be your touchstone
Wrapping you in an unconditional love" - It is really very rare when we read something so heart touching and uplifting at the same time like this.

I wish that your friend will come out of this pain very soon...to realize the fact that ...In this world, it doesn't matter with how much passion do you someone but then at one day...they can leave out of your life into the finality of death and in the beginning of a new life....

The word 'friend' is often played with but you really know what the word means.

What a beautiful poem, what sincere thoughts and kindnesses .. ' Take my hand and hold on tightly ~
I will be your shelter from the storm '

Hugs from a stranger for your dear friend.

A very nice and comforting tribute to a person that I am sure needs it after a loss. Your friend is blessed to have you and we are blessed "WC" to read your soul as you share it with us. Thanks.
