When you have no gun laws

you're buying into trouble

death descends on the

backs of the ignorant,

where powers that be,

make the decisions

but are not the ones shot dead:

funny about that!

A bullet anyone?

United are the States

where people are in demand,

cos there are too many bullets

where shooting is free

and targets are everywhere.

Not trying to get all political here, but gun laws don't change crazy f*****g people and calculated attacks. They outlaw them, they end up on the black market, where only criminals or collectors are purchasing them, the latter of the two which are the ones that are using these guns to commit crimes.

Our country would be better served to make stricter prescription drug laws, which fuel the drug market which causes gun related violence, fuels misdiagnosed and unneeded prescribed anti depressant pills which fuels mental illness, which in turn fuels senseless acts of violence.

Yes I agree with drugs a major problem but also you have to stop the hand that feeds you ie the supply of guns availability. Guns should be a conditional privledge not a right to own and yes guns will always be on the black market but usually for the underworld where crime figures murder other crime figures. Compared to Australia you have to many massacres be it at schools or public places, just saying more could be done with stricter gun laws. Thanks for your views BBP

yes...please God save us all ;) your poem is emotive, clear and concise .. not an easy thing to stick to when it comes to such controversial political subjects ... i would make my arguments on the Constitutional Right to Bear Arms for law abiding citizens of the USA .. but you know them i am sure ... we pretty much disagree on this one my friend..respectfully of course ... ;)

I,m just glad our then prime minister john Howard brought in strict gun laws after the port Arthur massacre 35 years ago and not a demented massacre since. He had balls sadly you guys have mass killings three or four times a year!

oh the killing statistics are much worse than that dear friend ... ironically Chicogo is one of the biggest killing fields and has the strictest of gun laws in the US .. its sad that a persons mental state can force such tragic action and an even deeper evil when someone disregards the law knowingly .. i'm glad you are happy with your gun laws ;) i'm afraid that criminals will find a way to do whatever it is they want to when it comes to any prohibitions .. after all...they are law breakers right?! when i was growing up the really "bad" kids made their own "zip" guns ... not difficult to do i guess

Domestic violence will continue yes but in Australia and England terrorists aside there are no massacres or one in three decades because you have to have strict gun laws, handing in weapons by everyone or its jail time.you can't have everyone owning a gun anymore except law enforcers. I feel safe in Australia than in your country. In our street alone no one owns a gun sure knives are bad in troubled areas of town but better chance to live than from a gun lunatic.😀

not talking about domestic violence ... i think that is a whole other arena :( again... i am glad you are happy with your nations gun laws .. and i will take you at your word on feeling safer when your government takes your guns away from you .. i respectfully ...once more ...do not agree and the guns in my pocket and household are to protect and defend ... sorry to know that in Canada .. that is not a citizens responsibility ... i wish you would dig into response times...violent crime... deaths by clubs ..fists and knives (as you mentioned) ... we will not come together as political law goes ... and i think that is a good thing ... the crime is not the weapon... but the criminal .. what happened in Las Vegas is a horror .. sadness sweeps our Nation ... but regardless of "motive" ..this was a terrorist act .. focused on chaos and death ... if it comes to my door ... at least i will have a chance to stop the violence ... when the criminal is dead ..the gun stops firing ... my dear friend ... we will not agree my blessed poet friend ... innocent law abiding citizens are not the problem ... criminal intent is .. and regardless of the weapon ... killing is ... well.... against the law ... :((((( but we are not elevated creatures ... we refuse to listen ... and we fail :((( my own hope is not in "Caesar" ..but in something more ... love you bro! peace .. out! :)

Quick question E, why would any sane person want to buy assault rifles, machine guns. I can understand pistols as a deterrent and rifles for hunting but letting any old Joe buy these killing machines defies belief. As a country you'll never change the constitution and I'll bet a dime to a dollar a massacre will never be halted by a member of the public toting a gun. I'd imagine most people, unless military trained, would be diving for cover and looking for clean pants.

if you familiarize yourself with our laws ..auto weaponry is "against the law" ... and we are joined in the grief ... this was a disgusting display of murder ... and it is evident all over the world .. beheadings, burning alive, child killing squads in Brazil ... let me please ask you this... do you put the catastrophe and horor of criminal murder on the September 11 attacks? when 2,996 people were killed (including 19 terrorists) and more than 6,000 others wounded.in the same context? or just one death of an innocent in Marseille when a van driven by an ISIS coward ploughed into a bus shelter? .. i am convinced it is not more laws we need ..we need to understand what evil is ..and how much better living in light is in comparison ... there is an ultimate, universal truth to be had by any who seek it ..unfortunately we are plagued with our own stubborn weakness and greed ... do you know how many "innocent " unborn children are killed in America? it is astounding! but we can go on and on my friend .. our hearts and souls need serious redemption in my mind :( great poem! well said and so timely :(((((
