Letters From You

Letters From You

A Poem by Anna

Devastation breeds as
Fingers are
sifting
through brittle
pages
that...
crumble
as I lift
to read
through
the hazy
news
of your
passing.
my
knees buckle
under the
weight of
loss
and revelations
of love
now forever
unspoken.

As I read this a few times to get the scene in my head, I pictured someone sifting through a trunk and discovering a brittle piece of paper with all the devastating news that hit the speaker so hard.

The impact of the information is conveyed well with such words as "knees buckle" and "revelations of love now forever unspoken."

I can almost see it all in an eighteenth century setting. A fine poem.
