Singularity Heart

Singularity Heart

A Poem by V.B.
"

This poem was better before I wrote it.

"
between the fourth and fifth martini is an event horizon

where the demented musings of the loveless are suspended

until they coalesce into a singular pool of 80-proof dysphoria

that all bartenders have sworn to mix liberally into the sixth.

an orchestra of depravity hangs until their once-temporal vapor

gets condensed into a tincture of infinite melancholy and gin,

and the final throat to embrace that sting provides a subtle cue

to resume the medley performance of every god-forsaken song

those present ever attached to the wrong half of a failed relationship.

but when last call cracks a link in this chain reaction of sorrows,

the pub's galaxy of fading stars will collapse into a microscopic point

within the chest of the man who ordered the first round.

and nothing will remain but the dust of imploded regrets.

You've weaved the themes of drink, music and cosmology seamlessly into this Big Bang of a poem. Another piece of your brilliance Mr. Blake!

Excellent V.Blake.

As one who has sat on this very bar stool, I can tell you that you've nailed it perfectly. "to resume the medley performance of every god-forsaken song
those present ever attached to the wrong half of a failed relationship."

Well done!

this is a magical grim-ride into the bloody twists on the blurry ambience of everyday pitfalls of humanity that start with a drink

somehow, this reminds me of a bar in star-trek :P It has a nice smokey bar feeling though, intangible and seductive.

I like how this is kind of a recipe for the perfect mixed drink. And this is exactly how it goes... from the first round, to the bullshit music, to last call. And finally - reality. Well done.

a bazillion points for the wave of HTML magic wand in your fade from red to black ( nice subliminal touch )

I remember watching the dark universe from the bright lights of the stage , what a show
