The Sound of a Broken Heart

For two years i've loved you,

I courted you for 8 months

We dated for 6,

We didn't talk for 7,

We were on and off for 5,

And I was waiting for your answer in 15 days.

 

But today someone asked you the question that I so frequently ask,

And the fact that you haven't flat out said no,

Shakes me to pieces,

The part where your considering him over me,

Tears me apart.

 

These tears that I shed,

Are for you,

And if you choose him,

I wish you the best,

For I only want the best for you,

I want you to be happy.

 

This isn't the first time you've trampled my feelings,

As you might recall,

And I thought I was done with the drama,

But I guess I was wrong.

 

I love you,

But do you return the feeling?

Or bend it to your will?

Free me from this eternal hell,

My heart cannot take anymore,

And I'm tired of hurting.

 

But am I a fool,

To take you if you return?

To forgive you if you choose him?

To trust you if you choose me?

I guess i'll never know.
