my country

my country

A Poem by sette

As of this writing,

Seven local civil servants

Were killed at random,

Scattered in different places.

Big question is,

Does it pose a threat

To national security?

Will martial law finally be

Declared in my country?

Perhaps before the year ends,

What is the effect?

Economically, we will be burdened

By taxes, taxes and taxes.

High rate of unemployment,

No solution to poverty.

Political instability,

Discontentment will be felt

By the people especially those

Who can’t and won’t understand.

Will Federalism be the answer?

My beloved country will no longer

Be a democratic state,

But rather a federal and a revolutionary state.

What’s next?

Totalitarian form of government,

A one-man rule.

Take your pick.

Macchiavelli, Stalin or Mussolini?

Indeed History repeats itself.

thanks my friend for the encouragement

thanks for dropping by and thanks for being a truth seeker too
so sorry to hear. sadly, that is what can happen when the people don't band together and have a voice. never an easy solution. pray for a peaceful, acceptable leadership that respects people with compassion but that is highly unlikely.

yes it is the usual and common scene
oh dear friend and writer ... very dismal outlook ... there are pieces of truth behind the fears but not my stand at all...i love this president who finally stands up and truly is open to reasonable instead of extremes .. our economy got a huge boost from the economic policies that passed ... record low unemployment and jobs growth in decades and especially among Hispanics and the Black communities ... the balance between individual freedoms and social safety and responsibilities is not worked better than in the USA .. our differing opinions create debate ... and if the "parties" would stop with the grasp for power after elections are held ..and did the job of initiating or changing law that reflects the will of the people even more would get done ... the will of the people being the results of elections ... i heavy sigh with you my friend ... thank you for your expressions .. i love the clarity of word and line and theme ;)

Your lines sette, full of questions but no answers. I share your concern for your country. Sometimes we do not learn from history.

Indeed history does repeat itself. But we can only hope for the best. I feel what you’re saying and it hits home kind of hard. Great poem!
