Homophobia

Homophobia

A Poem by BloodyMary
"

A brief poem on today's homophobia. This was up on my account on another website. Also: For the contest I entered: I am not an LGBT teen, but I support gay rights, and I wanted to enter this.

"

There's a new boy in class,
You need something witty to say,
So you ake up a rumour,
And tell everyone he's gay.

Deep in the "Closet",
There is a young girl,
Scared to come out,
Scared her life will unfurl.

You must be asking yourself,
Why do people act this way?
Maybe they're trying not to draw attention,
To themselves being gay.

Or maybe they're scared,
At something out of the norm.
Yet God created us,
All different size, shape, and form.

To those who say,
"Adam and Eve, Not Adam and Steve".
I never imagined that someone,
Could be so naive.

Now the new Boy sits alone,
For he has not one friend.
Because today's homophobia,
Just won't ever end.

Your poem is very true. It has a good rythme going on that makes readers want to read even more. Hopefully in the future, people won't be judged for who they are as a person...

We need to make sure today's homophobia ends! We need to keep working away to educate the world, and I believe that it can change eventually.

This reminded me of growing, going to a conservative school and having things thrown at me because of rumors that I was gay. Its ending is a bit depressing and fits the flavor of the poem. I only hope the last two lines are wrong...
