Thoughts from my shadow

Thoughts from my shadow

A Poem by breakthebrokenone

She was once filled with colour
A rainbow scattered across her body
But not in the typical order
It was much like her life
All held together
But without a familiar structure.

I look at her and reminisce..
I wish I could go back and tell her to smile
That she is filled with beauty and with colours
Of various magnitudes and depths
From a life time of experiences
All at the age of twenty one.

I cling to her
My darkness overwhelming
I am full of the sadness and oppression that she feels
But can never show.
She masks me in the colours
So everyone thinks she is bright and happy
But inside she is hurting.

She casts me on the ground
And I lay behind her
Looming over her petite frame...
While she tries to run from me
For she doesn't see the beauty that I hold

The beauty of sadness held within her shadow.
