If life was a dream

If life was a dream

A Poem by Ama May Cooper

If life is a dream
then were is reality
if life is a dream
then what were our dreams

Are those sleepy slumbers
the life we all lead
when we shiver and twitch
in coma like state

If life is dream
then were is reality
if life is a dream
then what were our dreams

Those slumbering visions
of monsters and ghouls
a demented but truthful reality?
with infinite retry s

If life is a dream
then we've lied to reality
if life is a dream
were playing out the wrong story

Strangely, this makes me think that dreams are parables of our reality. That dreams are influenced by how we perceive reality, interpreted by our feelings - therefore they make little sense and have no structure. But perhaps they do have meaning.
Perhaps dreams and reality are just flip-sides of a coin...
Interesting, thoughtful piece.

Good poem with a lot of tension between the two poles of reality and dream.
