War

War

A Poem by Joel K
"

The earliest poem I wrote that I still have a copy of.

"

War

The buttons pushed,

The missiles launched,

Life will never be the same.

The levers been pulled,

The bombs been dropped,

Life will never be the same.

The triggers pulled,

The bullets flown,

Life will never be the same.

The widows cry,

For husbands gone,

Their lives are forever changed

The parents cry,

For children lost,

Their lives are forever changed.

The children cry,

For mom and dad,

Their lives are forever changed.

The trees are dead,

The grass is brown,

Life is over; we are gone.

The water is poisoned,

The mountains are dust,

Life is over; we are gone.

The war is over,

The planet turned waste,

Life is over; we are gone.

The animals are gone,

The plants are dead,

All creation was destroyed.

No one is left,

To see what we have done,

All creation was destroyed.

LORD forgive us,

We were wrong,

All creation was destroyed.

War is always a bitter thing

That causes life to end.

Why can’t we say

To those not like us,

“peace, let us be friends.”
