Shades of Purple

Shades of Purple

A Poem by Chris Shaw

As dusk descends on purple fields
where you and I meet in our dreams,
where lavender exudes its calm,
we walk the seams, take in the scent.
Admire the pink and violet sky
and know this is no sad lament.
We've walked here many times before,
for you and I go hand in hand.
No need for tears or fond farewells,
for here we've found a place where we
can rest for all eternity.

I am a smell person...and this smelled lovely. Ohhh to have that one place, that one spot where you can ground yourself out with the companionship of another. I have one, its doesn't look or smell quite the same as this one, but I definitely have one. thanks for the stroll Christine!!

This is beautiful. I love the visual colours, but also the idea of a meeting place in which people can be themselves, together, either in our subconscious minds or away from reality perhaps.

This conjures up a lot of feelings about mortality. Lovely imagery. It seemed to come from a pretty deep place perhaps of loss or grief.

This one has a sensual appeal, engaging several of the senses, but I get the feeling the emotional content is the primary factor here. The speaker appears to be addressing someone who has departed; they are meeting in the sanctuary of the mind, where they will "rest for all eternity." Of course, the landscape may be real, a place where they walked when they were physically together. It the feeling, however, that is most important. A moving piece.

One of my favourite lines from a song...'where deep purple falls over sleepy garden walls'
A lovely place to be...walking together hand in hand beneath the brilliant colours of a sunset...
love should be the one thing we take with us into that sunset.

A good write, Chris.

"we walk the seams....." love that ... our colors purple doesn't necessarily have to be all sorrow and loss does it ... for me you poem creates a place of serenity, calm assurance as two who love still are allowed this quiet place to remain forever ... blissful ... comforting are the feelings that come to me in reading this ... really like it ... i imagined me Ma and Da enjoying such a place ;)

Purple in all its variants is my ever favourite colour.
In dreams of lavender fragranced fields romance and deep caring would be the most beautiful essence ....
