If I Die Now

If I Die Now

A Poem by Chelsea Miller

If I die now,
Will you notice?
Will you blame yourself,
Or will you blame him,
As you've always done?

If you cry now,
Do you cry for me,
Or do you cry
For yourself?

If I die now,
Will You
Take me in,
Or will you abandon me?
Because I abandoned You,
Because I felt that for ten years,
You abandoned me?

As I cry now,
Do You catch my tears,
Like You promised You would,
Or do You let them fall,
To drown me?

If I die now,
Will you stay by me?
Will you hold my hand,
As my heart stops beating?

If I die now,
Will you cry now?
If I die
now
?

Author's Note

Chelsea Miller
I originally wrote this for myself. How selfish I am. Then I saw the girl pictured, who rarely eats three meals a day. She is one of countless children, people, who don't have opportunities, support, luxuries, resources remotely close to the abundance we experience every single day. May God bless them, may He help them, may WE fulfill our responsibility as human beings to put down our weapons, put down our greed put down our fears and strive to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

I don't see selfish in speaking of what you feel ...only if it is used to intentionally hurt yourself or another.
