Walking In The Rain
A Poem by
Marie Harrison
A poem about emotional pain.
Walking In The Rain
In the rain
I like to walk
When my heart
Is in pain,
Walking keeps me
Contained.
The cold drops
On my face,
Make me
Feel sane
And numbs the pain.
Rain helps the membranes
of my brain
sort out this pain
before my train
derails and wanes.
My world
rocks and shakes
when I sit still
but
seems to
stay the same
when I
walk in the rain.

To be out in the rain seems to sooth our pains...love your final verse, which I will contemplate for a while,
"My world
rocks and shakes
when I sit still
but
seems to
stay the same
when I
walk in the rain."

I like the expression in this piece. Isn't it strange how when we are in emotional pain we seek to be numb instead of feeling good, like it gives us less to fear from falling atop off of the emotional high?
Great Write!

Masterfully told by someone who would know and has known true pain.
