Unbearable

a depressing poem/song....again

 

I can’t bear to think right now

All these thoughts hurt me somehow

So I’ll let these careless words slip

Onto the page from my fingertips

Before they are caught in the confining web

Of my broken mind and begin to ebb

 

I don’t want to feel right now

So I think I’ll just go lie down

Sing a song from long ago

Just let the lovesick lyrics flow

From my willing lips to eager ears

Before my heart can register fear

 

At the moment it’s too hard to stand

Or wonder if she holds your hand

So I guess I’ll take a long drive home

Off the tallest cliff you’ve ever known

That’s when the feelings will subside

As I begin my plummeting dive

 

This time my heart refuses to beat

So I’ll be carried by my running feet

Towards a place of hope and refuge

Away from the love which you refused

It’ll take a little time to loose

Myself from the grip of your tightened noose

 

A tormented mind

A bleak soul confined

In a heart too blind

To escape these binds

You put on me

 

As I drift away

Into my heartbroken haze

I wonder why

I never saw through your lies
