Change to ChangeA Poem by George Love
Change to Change
Caught up in the midst of a blowing wind
The times should change, a moving trend
By the sweat of a brow, they bread to win
Once said of man, now woman to share
To strive to live in this blowing wind
Blown so hard that love grows strange
Women now work, have won their change.
The charge to find in her bright mind
A reason to live for herself and find
Her path to clear and line of rhyme
And seek a reward, yes hers, not thine.
Sympathy freely may flow from the pen,
Tender words now soften this din
Decisions to make and times now to laugh
The finest hair to discern the truth,
Would be wide so wide that truth to hide.
Respect to you now all women who work,
May trials be short and laughter be great
And next in time this great swirling wind
Should blow through this life to bring your reward.
Thy daughters slim shall reap thy crops
And glance back at memories cellophane sealed
They work is now all black and white
And decisions to make for all who stand
But now that hair discerning the truth
Still wide, oh so wide, does the truth yet hide?
