Chances

Chances

A Poem by Darling Dallas

One Chance

Two Chance

Three Chance

Four......

The lies he told should close the door.

He lied.

She believed.

He laughed.

she cried.

One Chance

Two Chance

Three Chance

Four......

The lies he told were closing the door.

He was conniving.

She was clueless.

He was smart.

She was dumb.

 One Chance

Two Chance

Three Chance

Four.....

The lies he told almost closed the door.

He lied.

She almost believed.

He laughed.

She didn't cry.

One Chance

Two Chance

Three Chance

Four.....

The lies he told closed the door.

He was conniving.

She knew it.

He was smart.

She wasn't dumb.

 One Chance

Two Chance

THree Chance

Four....

Chances?

No More...

I could REALLY relate to this. Been in that situation once... Never again. I've always been careful after that. So with me from then on it was "One chance and then no chance". ;) Honestly, I don't believe in second chances anymore. Anyway, this is such a strong piece. I like the structure and the stanzas. The way the poem kind of counts down makes us see what's coming next but still keeps us on the edge of the seat. Really well done, bravo! :D

This one was a 'woah' moment at the end. I guessed the ending, but it was delivered in a powerful way with your writing style. I love the countdown effect, very well done :)

Thanks :)
I like it, it's a very clever write. And the message you bring is very clear. It's been brought very subtle and it evolves very well towards the end. Wonderful flow, it reads very well! Good one!
