be happy

be happy

A Poem by Shae-Leigh Johns

lookin in the mirror
they ask her what she sees
she tells them of the loneliness
she speaks of the pain
she paints them the darkness
she shows them the scars
but they don't believe her
they call her a liar
and they break her
and all they have to say for it is
be happy

these words hold such pain and frustration, a powerful piece that shows how invisible both mental health and feelings are and the misconception that it is all a choice
