A Domestic Disturbance

A Domestic Disturbance

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A rise in the temperature

Does not expand the land

But it does assure us

That we are full of hot air…

We do not rise like a balloon,

Rather sink behind

Things we forgot existed

Until relief was needed.

Core values don’t revolve around us

Because the layers we possess

Keeps them hidden deep,

Far deeper than we will ever be buried

When life runs out on us,

Running like the wind fanning flames

That allows the fire to spread,

Making it hotter than

The Mother, Father and Son intended.

It's been a while since I've read your work. I'm glad I stopped by. Some people are full of more hot air than others, haha. I enjoyed this.

Well thank you very much.
Even tho "domestic disturbance" is typically something that happens in the privacy of one's home, I get the feeling this one might be happening out in broad daylight, regarding the strife & stress that's widespread since our politics went wacko. I've been feeling way too much hot air lately & the hypocrisy is also turned on "high"! I like your playful spoof on how core values seem to be buried deep while the flames are fanned on a constantly changing array of stuff.

Thank you very much... sometimes we need to make light of those things that bring darkness.
how interesting ... i like the sarcastic humor .. the twists and turns make me think ... the hints of darkness in closing is somber to me .. i feel a little afraid and need to check myself a bit ..like when i drive past a policeman on the highway ;)

Thank you for the review and sharing your thoughts and fear, LOL
I really like your message here. The we are full of hot air reference gave me a giggle. The only thing I would check is the line "running like the wind fanny the flames" - possibly should be fanning? Other than that, awesome as always Cowboy! :) Julie
