You Better Believe

You Better Believe

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Just some lyrics I wrote

"

It was a simple run to the quick stop

For some cigarettes and beer

When a man appeared from out of the dark

Looking like he needed handout.

I tried to pretend I didn’t see him

Cause my mood was in a hard place

And somehow he must have seen

Inside my soul when he said.

You better believe

No one can do it for you

You better believe

So fate will never kill you

You better believe

Or no one will ever know you

You better believe

Then faith will never fail you

Kneeling before the woman I love

With a ring and nervous hand

Asking her to be my beautiful bride

As a tear ran down her face.

She looked me in the eye with pain

And said, “I don’t think I’d be a good wife.”

Not knowing what to do all I could say

Were the words that saved me.

You better believe

No one can do it for you

You better believe

So fate will never kill you

You better believe

Or no one will ever know you

You better believe

Then faith will never fail you

A few years later on the street

She was looking so happy baby in hand

Greeting me with a warm smile

Telling me I saved her life.

As I walked away I gave thanks

To that angel with a dirty face

For the two lives he graced

With those lines I’ll always remember

You better believe

No one can do it for you

You better believe

So fate will never kill you

You better believe

Or no one will ever know you

You better believe

Then faith will never fail you

Dale, this is absolutely FANTASTIC. I love it. It contains a powerful message. We have to believe not only in ourselves but in God, or we are nothing. believing in ourselves gives us strength and courage and self confidence.

Great rhythm flow and the chorus is powerful.
Love it, Love it, Love it.

He lets you know in all sorts of ways Dale, and we have a choice...listen or ignore. We tend to think that we know best, but it would be better to look for the reason things happen and no matter how dire...they are happening because we didn't listen to our gut feelings.
Nice lyrics, just in time for thanks giving...

This is really amazing writing. I could actually picture this inside my head as I was reading. It is very spiritual, exhibiting a loving and pro-active side of God in our lives. You have a wonderful imagination. This would make a great song.

This would make a great spiritual song....he is the only power that we can go to and ask for light, from the darkness that fills our souls and he will never deny us, if we ask with our true heart. We better believe that. Great song my friend.

This would be a great song! I loved this piece for its message, which is that if you don't believe, life won't be fulfilling.

Faith leads to fulfillment, point blank.

Great write.

The repetition after each stanza really strengthens your main idea. This would make a wonderful song! It's very encouraging, keep it up! :)

Wonderfully uplifting write! Very touching. Thought and emotion provoking.
Sounds like a prayer to me. Strongly reverberating words.
I think it is exactly what lots of people lack nowadays - self confidence
and believes in their own capabilities...
I'll take your words as an advise:

You better believe

No one can do it for you

You better believe

So fate will never kill you

You better believe

Or no one will ever know you

You better believe

Then faith will never fail you
