Life's Journey Is More Than Meets The Eye

Life's Journey Is More Than Meets The Eye

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

In this wondrous journey of life

It is better to walk a dirt road...

For those that glide down paved streets

Never truly understand the meaning of home.

Often we walk a path with blinders

Ignoring the river we walk beside

If we just take the time to skip a stone across

we could appreciate the miracle of the ripples.

When the sky crashes down on you

Stop seeing it as a dream being crushed.

Rather, the soul-searching revelation

As the impossible is never out of reach.

That giant hole in the middle of the road

Isn’t as dark and empty deep as it seems.

In reality it’s a reason to leap.

So for a moment you can experience flying.

When you hit a dead end

Don’t ever think of it as over.

Look upon it as just another adventure

Off the beaten path...

              Into neverland.

This is a little more then you would at first think it is..I loved the ending, I've been to nowhere but i've never been to never land.. thank you, the journey begins with one footsteps and ends with one footstep, its where those footsteps take us that are important, thank you to for reminding in the frustation of sliding down a hill that the impossible is never out of reach.. good words, i'm glad i've read them.

Your poems can be quite philosophical, and think that's what makes them so special. This leaves the reader with a nice healthy dose of optimism (which is damn important in this 'sky-is-falling' economic time). Great job -- as always!

These are such inspiring words of wisdom. I love the philosophy found within this poem. I also love the imagery.

Nice words of wisdom you spoke for me Dale, thank-you. Perhaps you should be the one to write my Quote book? haha! But i gotta say, life's path is not meant to be an easy journey, one might fight to make it out alive. So I don't have a beautiful horse that can help me run free, but I got these feet which may take baby steps but it's nice to make it then fail over and over again. If I rush I might not learn things and I'd be making the same mistake twice. This was a great write Dale!

This was quite beautiful Cowboy and I like the gist of the idea. Life is a journey, not a destination. And though many twists and turns made find us in blind curves at times, we should always wait for the sun to return from behind the clouds. A great write.

Life' s journey is filled with many paths we all must take, and in doing so we learn many new things which helps us to grow as individuals. This is a very thought provoking moving write. A joy to read. Gypsy_Moon

So hopeful and stirring, setting up the perfect pattern for a new year! To see things with eyes of hopefulness rather than despair and darkness... Oh, that is my wish for all of us here...

This is so true. We need to leave our comfort zones and take a chance, because that can make all the difference. :)

Nice job. xo
