I lie quiet, calm,

The sheets cool,

The twilight close, comforting

His hand traces the curve of my hip, caressing, caring,

He is here

Cutting the silence

I smile,

My mind,

Soothed, assuaged,

My body warms,

My need intensifies

I yearn,

My heart still bleeds,

Broken

Never whole

Wanting the unattainable

Written so beautifully, the want or need which seems to be just out of reach, or perhaps a memory of what we have had in the past, all too fleetingly. Put alongside your comment regarding wanting what we can't have, the song you can't always get what you want is now playing in my head....Yet the one thing that we do have is hope, no matter how far from our horizon it seems.
