a menu of malfeasance

a menu of malfeasance

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a menu of malfeasance

you convey refined neglect

courteous insult of silence

i reset the table of emotions

with backward diligence

and forward glance

but you still refuse proper placement

of happenstance,

a napkin of nimble notice

never reaches the lap

of endearment

and once again

i sit alone

politely imbibing

my glass of nothing.

I am so sorry for the neglect...I will never let it happen again:) LOL How often we lack the realization that we are consistently in need or want of others, yet we don't often take their need or want into perspective. I have only ever been stood up for dinner once ( I am a good cook...and not a bad date) but it hurts as much as all the times I was stood up as a lover or emotionally as a partner. Excellent write!

"My glass of nothing" well, that says it all, doesn't it? The table of emotions, once set incorrectly, can not be realigned. The metaphors you use in your poetry keep me coming back for more. Wonderful. Lydi**

So sad when there is nothing left but silence....

The turns of phrase are simply wonderful here--"a napkin of nimble notice", "politely imbibing/my glass of nothing". It's all an all-too-rare quality for writing to be spare in the best sense of the word.

Refined neglect...courteous insult...because silence sounds louder and cuts deeper than a word of anger spoken. Being ignored creates deeper wounds.

Smart piece once again. Thank you for sharing, sir. My mind is honed in thinking and analyzing your metaphors though I am not sure if I hit everything right but that's how I view your poem.
